I decided to put my pinterest skills to practice and attempt to make one of the ideas I’ve seen on there a few times. I decided to make a fall wreath on the cheap. The idea was to buy insulation tubing from Home Depot and make the wreath out of that instead of buying the expensive ones at the craft store.
I bought a 6 foot tube for less than $2! Much cheaper than the $13 at the craft store. Then I found some fabric in the remnant section ($1.99) to cut into strips and treat like ribbon. Lastly, I went to the mum section (making mums for homecoming is a big deal in Texas – lots of supplies on the cheap) and got a few flowers ($1 each).
So first I cut the tubing to the length that made sense to me and taped it. It was a little more challenging than I expected. The tubing kept wanting to crease and bend. I was able to tape it and kinda reshape where it bent. I was struggling with this, so I don’t have any pictures of me shaping the tubing.
Next I ironed the fabric.
Then I started cutting the strips. I used the width of the ruler and the rotary cutter to cut.
Once I had all the strips I thought I needed, I started wrapping them around the wreath.
I made sure each seam stayed along the back and would cut the strips to make that work. Each one was anchored at each end with the glue gun.
Then it was time to attach the flowers.
Then it was just about where to place them.
Then I started with the larger flowers to glue them on.
Then I was all done!
Overall, it’s not perfect, but I like it. And it only cost me $8 to make! That’s a success in my book.
I should also mention that my husband bought me my hot glue gun a few months ago. I’ve never used one in my life, so it was fun to use this one that he got for me so I could be more crafty!

Lovely!
