Anniversary Safari

My sweet, wonderful, amazing, funny, handsome husband and I celebrated our second anniversary this month.

Happily Ever After

We decided to go away for the weekend.  My honey let me plan the trip, so I picked a place I stumbled across about a year ago when looking for B&Bs in the Texas Hill Country.  I found Sinya on Lone Man Creek.  I booked the trip and picked our breakfasts from the options and we were ready to relax.

being a country boy

I was driving home from work tonight and heard an old Hank Williams Jr. song on the radio I haven’t heard in a while.  I knew most of the words, but they meant something differently to me this time.  It’s called “Country Boy Can Survive” and here are the lyrics:

The preacher man says it’s the end of time
And the Mississippi River she’s a goin’ dry
The interest is up and the Stock Markets down
And you only get mugged
If you go down town

Getting the Laundry Done

I bought my townhouse almost four years ago.  We haven’t done much to the second floor  except for the bedrooms.  I’ve been dreaming of ways to make the laundry room a little more functional (and prettier).  For the last four years, it’s looked like this:

First Camping Trip of 2012

It was our first camping trip of 2012 and it was long overdue.  This is the first year we didn’t camp over New Year’s  weekend since we had met.  But we were both so sick, it couldn’t be helped.

With a last minute question of “Do you want to go camping this weekend?”, we were planning our trip.  We decided to go where we went a few years ago – Pedernales Falls State Park.  We love this park.  Especially site 11, which is where we got to set up camp both times.  We decided to go on Saturday morning and leave Sunday for a short trip.  We packed up and headed out to the park.

A Peaceful Christmas?

My honey and I have been running around to visit our parents a lot lately.  We’ve been working on renovating my husband’s grandparents’ house for a while.  It’s been a weekend project and I’m happy to say that the hardie siding on the outside is done!  yippee!

We’ve also driven to my parents’ house for a few weekends the last few months.  My brother was visiting from Wyoming, Thanksgiving, Christmas Party.

In the end, we haven’t had a weekend at home together since early October!  It’s been crazy!  So we decided a few weeks ago to let our families know that we are spending Christmas at home alone.  We’ve hosted Christmas the last three years, so this was kinda a shock to the family. Continue reading

Fabric Matting

I got an idea from pinterest to make your own matting by covering cardboard (or anything really) with fabric.  I decided I would do this for a few gifts this year.  It was a fun and fairly simple process.  I ended up making 5 for Christmas gifts this year.

First I went to Target and got a few frames.  One of the frames I chose was for my friend that just had a baby boy a few months ago.  I wanted to make her something that would fit in his nursery if she wanted it to.

Here are the other “ingredients”:

tools and materials

Going Hunting

So each year, my honey and I go cut down our Christmas tree and this year was no different.

So we loaded up the puppy and went for a drive out to the tree farm.  It was a bit cooler outside than we expected, so we made a decision to find our tree pretty quickly.  Not because it was perfect, but because we were freezing!  One year, we walked all over the farm a couple of times until we agreed on our tree.

Tucker approved!
